The proud tradition of honoring residents who serve and contribute to the community is exemplified in Cedar Fort's July 24th Parade Grand Marshals, Dennis and Carole Malmstrom. They were selected to greet friends and neighbors while riding in a vintage 1965 Ford Mustang in the town's parade on the morning of July 24th and circle the arena to open the rodeo later that afternoon.
The Malmstroms are hard workers who enjoy visiting and helping others. Dennis is easily recognizable around town

Cedar Fort upgrades park
Cedar Fort's Town Park has a welcome addition that is nearly complete. At the Cedar Fort Town Council meeting on July 12, 2018, owner representative Howard Anderson reported to the Council that the restroom in the park is about 98% finished. According to Anderson, the only projects left on the restroom are installing an external hose bib and finishing the floor. The electrical system to the restroom had been completed earlier that day. Cedar Fort ready to celebrate July 24th
CEDAR FORT -- Cedar Fort residents look forward to their annual July 24 celebration with its traditional rodeo, parade, carnival and town-wide water fight. Families and former residents gather each year for a down-home small town celebration with a pioneer flare. This year's festivities will include several new twists on well-loved events, and introduce some new activities as well.

Cedar Fort/Fairfield to create joint fire department
CEDAR FORT -- Cedar Fort Mayor David Gustin proposed a joint fire department agreement between Cedar Fort and Fairfield at the Cedar Fort Town Council meeting on May 24, 2018. The Mayor said that he has already met with Fairfield Mayor Brad Gurney to assess both towns' needs and begin the process of unifying the fire department into a joint venture. Gustin said that before proceeding further he wanted the Town Council's input on the proposal.

Cedar Fort adopts 2018-2019 budget
CEDAR FORT -- After a public hearing on the proposed 2018-2019 budget on June 14, 2018, the Cedar Fort Town Council conducted their monthly Town Council meeting and adopted the budget. The balanced budget projects operating expenses for the town of $97,450. The coming fiscal year's budget includes a pay increase for the town's four employees -- clerk, treasurer, water superintendent and groundskeeper.

Cedar Fort to pursue Land Patent

The Cedar Fort Mayor and Town Council unanimously voted to pursue patenting seven acres of BLM land at the Town Council meeting on April 12, 2018. The Town is currently leasing 12.5 acres of land from the Federal Bureau of Land Management. Mayor David Gustin said that it would be wise for the town to secure ownership of that parcel because the Cedar Fort Community Center is located there. Town looks to improve cemetery road
CEDAR FORT — The cemetery was a major point of discussion during the town council's April meeting.
A survey conducted by the town last year indicated that of 93 households surveyed, 39 of them want the cemetery road restored to its original state while 44 would like to have grass available and 19 would like the timbers straightened and to have gravel put in.
Of the respondents, 46 have family members buried in the cemetery. (Twenty-four homeowners declined to make any comment).

Cedar Fort Hires New Treasurer

Cedar Fort town officials approved Ashley Cook as the new Town Treasurer at the March 17 council meeting. Cook replaces former treasurer Autumn Blackner who resigned in February. Cedar Fort Mayor David Gustin said that he and Town Councilman Richard Stark had interviewed Cook and found that her qualifications would be an excellent fit for the position. Before taking a vote on the appointment, Gustin allowed the rest of the Town Council to ask Cook questions.

Cedar Fort Town Council revises Commercial Business License Ordinance
CEDAR FORT -- The Cedar Fort Town Council unanimously passed revisions to the Commercial Business License Ordinance at the monthly Town Council meeting on February 22, 2018. Mayor David Gustin said that the revisions changed only the process of obtaining a commercial business license and the procedures of dealing with the town. New treasurer for Cedar Fort
CEDAR FORT — The town council appointed a new town treasurer at its March 17 meeting. Ashley Cook was appointed to the position after an interview with Mayor David Gustin and Councilmember Richard Stark who recommended her to the council. Cook has been a financial broker for the last four years and has managed the books of Cedar Valley Net for 2 1/2 years. The council thanked Autumn Blackner for her service.
